Preface by Lino Alviani
-curator

The Third Edition of Rose's Choice is once again characterized by the artist's research of their local surroundings and the culture of their country of origin. We have selected some of the most interesting artists that come to us from all corners of the world where they have contributed their works and continue to offer their best contribution to the research of a cultural and artistic identity.

This year we have organized a "niche" exhibition, with a reduced number of artists, in order to stimulate a more careful reflection among the different sensations, cultures and expressions of art and in order to give a strong impulse to stimulate the curiosity and interest of many people who are keen on art, as well as of those who are not.

This year's show is a real artist event, as our first aim is to underline the contact between art and territory and between artists and places, so that they can exchange and express their own sensations, ideas and plans.

We believe that our audience wishes the most special and selective exhibition according to its own cultural and aesthetics points of view as, in our opinion, visiting an art show, should always be a pleasant contact with works of art and friends whom to share with pleasures, surprises and emotions.

This exhibition is a meeting, point of exchange and moment for the contemporary international art world, while intending to connect the works of art to the contemporary social and political context of the artists.

Besides the evident stylistic un homogeneities, we also would like to recall the possible affinities hidden among the depths of different poetics, putting ourselves to different reading levels which can lead us to feel all those little movements breathing all the possible underlinings, through an exemplary linguistic economy, in the flashbacks of a society which is passed and at the same time is constantly changing, keeping the strong will to conceptualiize visual impressions of a special dimension whose primary asimbolic language can convey peaceful sensations which stimulate to recover a joint relationship between man and art.

Finally, our exhibition is an great opportunity for the artists to experience Scontrone, its inhabitants and its nature in that they may find inspiration and a sudden summoning of their own critical sense their own voice within the developing process of contemporary art.

Letter from Patrizia Melone -mayor of Scontrone

We're at the third edition of Rose's Choice and thanks to the recognition of the Regional government, MIDA is officially recognized as a 3rd category museum. This signifies two very important things for the museum: 1) It is a symbol of appreciation for all the work we've done over the past 3 years. 2) Limited not only to MIDA, this honor encompasses Scontrone's Paleontological Center, its respective archeological sites, and the town's progressive Mural Exhibition, thus creating "Il Sistema Museale Creato a Scontrone" or The Museum Circuit of Scontrone.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our local municipality and the regional governmental offices of Abruzzo who have graciously rewarded the labors and efforts of a small village. This is a symbol of how goals my be obtained through perseverance and passion even with only the limited resources of a small provincial town.

It was a moving experience to meet these very special artists. One can't help but notice their vitality, desire to participate in the exhibition and leave a stamp of their passage through our young museum. I am grateful for their enthusiasm to travel from afar and share with us their experiences. This act of Rose's Choice which is becoming almost a ritual of the museum, will continue to retain its newness because with each new year brings new artists and new diversity.

Year after year we are dedicated to finding representatives of different countries and we intend to show art as a medium of expressing one's culture. As a result each annual exhibition encompasses many different tones, shapes, sounds and tastes which the artists use to express their uniqueness while touching on the universality of human emotion.

I sincerely thank the artists for venturing from their distant homesin all parts of the world to share with us these special moments. We greatly appreciate their decision to reach out to our humble village tucked away within the mountains of Abruzzo and hope that we can repay them with our love, warmth and Scontronese traditions of hospitality.

Our current international situation continues to grow more and more intense with each new day. At times hope may be difficult to find, but in our own little way, here at MIDA, we are making efforts to move us all forward with our contributions to art culture and diversity. The works that MIDA exhibits are not only art but rather vehicles of artists' messages that speak to all of humanity.

Again, I thank these courageous and thoughtful women for their commitment to MIDA, the donation of their artwork and most of all, for their steadfast efforts to the elevate the human spirit.
